100 years of the society's operation
Voluntary Fire Department for the district of the Parish of St. Vid pri Ptuju from founding to the present day
Fire is extremely useful to man, but at the same time, with its destructive force, it is his great enemy. Because protection and defense against fire was common to all, people began to organize themselves in the fight against the dangers of fire into fire prevention or firefighting societies.
Videm pri Ptuju
On the southern edge of the Drava Plain, on both sides of the Dravinja, where the Haloze hills come closest to the arms of the Drava, lies Videm. Videm became an independent municipality by law in 1994.
The municipality has 44 settlements, spread over an area of 128 km², partly flat, but mostly in the hilly Haloze area, which belongs to the group of less developed border municipalities of Slovenia. It borders Croatia for a distance of 10 km.

Society's activities 1945-1969
Between 1950 and 1955, the society helped with fires, but it became increasingly apparent that they no longer had proper equipment and couldn't respond to fires because they were immobile. Funds were raised through organizing celebrations, collection campaigns, and voluntary work.
The fire tower was finally completed and handed over to its purpose in 1962. The tower was built with own funds collected at various events. Locals, the Videm Agricultural Cooperative, and the Ptuj Agricultural Combine contributed significantly.
The society was in crisis and had no commander who would be the leading pillar of the society. The membership could no longer find motivation. They had too few firefighting drills. In 1962, they had two fires.
Financially, the society could barely manage, the treasury balance worsened year after year. The mechanic's report stated that the fire pump was in order, as they could still use it. But they didn't attend fires because they had no vehicle.
In spring, several young firefighters left for military service, while the women's unit was very active and hardworking in 1962.
